Hi! From one creative wanderer to another
I'm Dominique — a multilingual London girl living in Europe. Most of my time is spent building the small business I run with my husband or playing storm trooper #65 with my kids. And now you'll find me here grabbing a spare moment to share my thoughts about belonging, identity, faith & what the best musical is and why it's The Lion King.
Someone once told me they see me like a lighthouse, shining my light to help guide others on their way. That really stuck with me and I hope that, through what I create here, we might be lighthouses together for each other.
Like Marianne Williamson said:
“…as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same”
What is Nomad Sixty-One?
Nomad Sixty-One started as a spontaneous, ambitious Advent project in 2020 that brought together 26 artists from 11 countries. A project I coordinated, curated, and commentated.*
(*Fine, I made up that last word. But I also recorded video reflections for each week, so it counts. Besides, creative word-making is encouraged round here. Consider this your permission slip to do the same.)
And what began as a joy-filled collaborative experiment has evolved into something more personal: a space where I share my own journey through essays, poetry, reflective exercises, and quotes that live rent free in my head or made me break out in a praise dance.
Why “Nomad Sixty-One”?
Nomad comes from the Greek word for “roaming about for pasture” — moving with the seasons, searching for sustenance, never quite settling but always finding nourishment along the way.
Sixty-One is from the Bible book Isaiah 61 — a passage about healing, freedom from oppression, caring for the poor, sitting with people in their grief, and exchanging sadness for joy, despair for hope.
Together, it's a name for people who are on the move but rooted in purpose and connected to something bigger than themselves. Wandering, searching but most definitely not lost.
Why you might wanna subscribe...
•If you're interested in what faith looks like when it intersects with belonging, social justice, and creativity – I have a feeling you'll like it here.
•If you're working through your own life and identity questions and want to hear someone else's honest exploration – consider your seat saved.
•If you live, work, or love cross culturally – MY PEOPLE, I see you!
I originally imagined Nomad Sixty-One as a collective of people creatively journeying together. I still hold that vision. It's just that now, I'm inviting you into something a bit more personal - my own wanderings, shared openly, hoping they might resonate with yours.
